On April 3-5, 2008 the conference "Technology, Design and Management: Creating New Models of Possibility for All" will be held at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. Among the organizors we find Richard Boland from Case Western and Jamie Alonzo Gomez from Tecnológico de Monterrey. They want to advance the scholarship of design and positive change in human organizations by combining the research streams of Managing as Designing, Appreciative Inquiry and Participative Systems Design.
This conference is building on the success from previous venues such as "Designing Information and Organizations with a Positive Lens" November 11-12, 2005 (see http://weatherhead.case.edu/design/)
According to the invitation they have invited "leading scholars and practitioners from design, strategy, organization development, information systems design, and positive organization studies for a trans-disciplinary effort that will chart a new course for betterment in human organizations." In order to encourage discussion and collaboration, the workshop has been limited to about 60 people. Lena Holmberg and Lars Mathiassen will participate and report back on this blog!
